On May 16, 2026, Far East Smart Energy Co., Ltd. and its subsidiary Far East Electric Co., Ltd. held the grand signing and inauguration ceremony of the "Thermal Science and Frontier Technology Research Center" jointly established with the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) at the Minhang Campus of SJTU. The signing aims to leverage the respective advantages of the university and the enterprise in cutting-edge technology R&D and engineering application through joint research, focusing on core technologies such as high thermal conductivity composite materials and bionic manifold microchannels to solve the high-power heat dissipation challenges of chips, servers and systems driven by the explosive growth of AI computing power.

Professor Xi Lifeng extended a warm welcome to the Far East delegation and congratulated the official establishment of the "Thermal Science and Frontier Technology Research Center". He pointed out that the materials discipline of SJTU ranks 8th globally in ESI, with strong scientific research strength, and the materials team has achieved outstanding results in the thermal management field at the international frontier. Given the heat dissipation bottleneck brought by the explosive growth of AI computing power, the industry-university cooperation is highly timely. The university will fully support the construction of the research center, build an internationally leading platform within three years, break the barriers of industry-university-research cooperation, and establish a benchmark for the integration of industry and education.
Jiang Chengzhi first expressed his respect for SJTU's profound heritage and gratitude for the strong support from SJTU in previous cooperation. He further introduced the company's overall strategy of ALL IN "Electric Energy + Computing Power + AI", with an in-depth layout in the computing power industry chain. He also emphasized that thermal management has become a key bottleneck restricting the development of computing power infrastructure. The joint establishment of the "Thermal Science and Frontier Technology Research Center" by Far East and the School of Materials Science and Engineering of SJTU is of great significance. The research center will accelerate the application of cutting-edge technologies, set a new benchmark for industry-university cooperation, solve world-class industrial challenges, and break through several key bottleneck technologies.
Sun Lizhen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, welcomed the Far East team to the Innovation Building of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and congratulated the establishment of the research center. She introduced that the materials discipline of SJTU is a national A+ discipline, with 10 independently cultivated academicians and 100,000 square meters of scientific research space, highly valued by the state. The materials team leads the world in liquid metal, diamond, phase change materials and other fields. The school will fully support the construction of the research center, promote breakthroughs in original research at the level of Nature/Science, realize the industrialization of landmark achievements, and suggest deepening the integration of industry and education by integrating real enterprise needs into R&D and talent training.

Professor Deng Tao, Director of the research center and Dean of the Graduate School of SJTU, introduced that SJTU and Far East have carried out in-depth cooperation in materials R&D, structural design and other fields in the early stage, laying a solid foundation. The goal of the research center is to build a world-leading innovation platform for thermal functional materials, forming a closed loop of "scientific research-industrialization-talent training-achievement sharing". The team currently focuses on high thermal conductivity composite materials and thermal interface materials, laying out application scenarios such as AI infrastructure, space computing power and new energy, and realizing the upgrading from materials to devices and system solutions.

Witnessed by all guests, Huo Ming and Professor Deng Tao signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. Jiang Chengzhi and Professor Xi Lifeng jointly inaugurated the "Thermal Science and Frontier Technology Research Center", marking a new stage of in-depth integration in the industry-university cooperation.
